BOEUF BOURGUIGNON - Daring Cooks' Challenge - May / 2012

The past few months were quite slow here on my blog, but not that slow in my kitchen. I still had to feed the people in the house while things were happening. I managed to take some photos of food that I had no time to write about, but now that everything's quiet I will catch up on my blogging, starting with this Boeuf Bourguignon, the May 2012 Daring Cooks' challenge, three months late :o/

Our May 2012 Daring Cooks’ hostess was Fabi of Fab'sfood. Fabi challenged us to make Boeuf Bourguignon, a classic French stew originating from the Burgundy region of France.

Three years ago, when I started this blog, I shyly published my first posts and soon had to travel back to Brazil for the holidays. On the plane, I was searching for a movie to watch and chose "Julie & Julia", much more because I enjoy Meryl Streep than for the story itself. At that time I didn't know who Julia Child was, but I loved the story so much specially because Julie (Amy Adams) was starting a food blog just like me :o) So, when I saw that Fabi chose one of Julia Child's most popular recipes for this challenge, I just had to participate even if it meant that writing and blogging about about it would have to wait. A time consuming recipe, but worth every minute spent, absolutely delicious!

A couple of days before making this recipe, I made some homemade beef stock (one of the ingredients needed) from the blog Crianças na Cozinha

Then I followed the recipe as given by Fabi, except that I didn't use the oven, I preferred to cook it on the stove. The original recipe and guide lines for this challenge can be found at  THE DARING KITCHEN and at FAB'S FOOD. Thanks Fabi for the deliciously amazing challenge!

  1. How strange Renata, I first watched Julie & Julia on a plane ride home too!
Every time I read Julia Child's recipe for Boeuf Bourguignon, I say I must try it but never do. You may have posted late but you did it, and I should take my cue from you. The dish looks perfect!
