DRIED PERSIMMON AND THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON

Leia em PORTUGUÊS

Happy New Year, again! This time it is the beginning of the lunar year in the Chinese calendar. Here in Korea it is a long holiday, but the first day of the Lunar New Year is today, January 23rd, 2012, the year of the Dragon. Everyone is celebrating and exchanging gifts is one of the traditions, and I would like to share with you one of the gifts we received, something I had never heard about until I came to Korea: dried persimmons.

Just like other dried fruits we know well such as figs, apricots, raisins, plums, etc, the persimmon also has its dried version.

It has a moist interior and it's very sweet, quite interesting.

Well, this is my first post of the year, I'm finally back, still kinda slow. I have already tried a few recipes  to post but none have had a great outcome. I'm still recovering from vacations away and serious jet-lag, so please bear with me. I promise things will get back to normal soon and I'm sure to share with you lots of delicious treats. Meanwhile, I would like to thank you all for leaving your comments and messages while I was away :o)

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
