Yes... this month I had the pleasure of hosting the Daring Cook's challenge!

It all started when I received an e-mail from Lis, the co-founder of The Daring Kitchen, asking me if I wanted to write an article for the FOOD TALK section of the site. I was very honored, but at the same time nervous, specially because English is not my native language and writing an article in English would be a huge challenge. But I already knew what I wanted to write about: edible containers. This is something that has always amazed me in every way. So I started collecting ideas from the Internet foodie community, added a few of my own and the article was created.

Right after I finished writing the article, I thought to myself, 'this would make a fun and very interesting challenge for the Daring Bakers and Cooks'! So I sent Lis a message with the suggestion and she promptly agreed and was very excited about it. That was when she invited me to host this challenge. She came up with all the additional ideas of making it a duo challenge (for Cooks and Bakers) and awarding prizes for the most creative ideas. Oh my God! That was so exciting!!!

I decided to give lots of room for creativity, so the only mandatory items for this challenge would be to make a savory edible container with a filling suitable for it. I provided some ideas with step by step instructions:

PUMPKIN BOWL FILLED WITH CREAMY SHRIMP

NOODLE BASKET FOR SALADS

This one was a cool idea I learned from Shirley Santos at Gestão Na Hospitalidade (former Gestão Gastronômica). Even though the recipe in that post did not contain the instructions for the noodle basket, I left a message for her and she promptly replied and gave me some instructions on how to make it. But only now, more than one year later, I tried my hand at it. It couldn't be a more appropriate occasion. Loved it! Thanks Shirley!

EGGS IN TOAST CUPS

To use what was left from the slice of bread after making the adorable flower cups, flower eggs!

Another suggestion were the Edible Soup Bowls made with bread dough and shaped on upside-down muffin pans that I had posted  some time ago.

And, during the month, I couldn't resist creating one more edible container from the Duchess Potatoes I had made for dinner one night, and filled it with beef stew, delicious combination!

I hope everyone has had as much fun as I have with this challenge. I would like to thank Lis and Yvonne for their great work at THE DARING KITCHEN. I'm really proud of being a member!

A huge thank you to all participants who took their time creating such wonderful edible containers!
